Tuesday (September 30th)

Psychology:  Today we began an in-class project on Erikson’s Theory.  The assignment can be found here, and will be due at the start of class on Thursday.  We will be working on it all day Wednesday.

US History:  We moved on to the 4th Amendment today, and explored the meaning of the phrase “probable cause”.  Notes can be found here.

Monday (September 29th)

Psychology:  Today we began looking at Erik Erikson’s Theory of Psychosocial Development.  Notes on the theory can be found here.  We used the information on the 8 stages to identify the major crisis for each of the stages.  For homework, please complete numbers 3,4,5,6,8 on the practice activity on the last 2 pages of the notes.

US History:  Today we finished up looking at free speech by looking at limits on free speech.  Notes can be found here.  If you missed today, print off the notes and you can borrow a classmates’ and fill it out tomorrow.

Friday (September 26th)

Psychology:  Today we talked about some social psychology concepts related to morality.  The notes can be found here.  In particular, we talked about the Just-World Phenomenon, the Foot-in-the-door Phenomenon, & the Bystander Effect. Below is a good video on the Bystander Effect: 

US History:  Today we finished watching the film “Deliberate Intent” & a writing assignment based on the issue of the film was distributed.The assignment can be found here.  It is due Monday.

Tuesday (September 23)

Psychology:  Today we talked about Tiger Parenting.  We discussed an article on the topic.  The article can be found here.  See me if you need a copy of the questions that accompany it.

US History:  We talked about Schenck v. United States and finished filling out the notes from the previous day.  We also began to get into Brandenburg v. Ohio.

Monday (September 22)

Psychology:  Today we watched an episode of Supernanny and evaluated the parenting styles of all of the adults in the episode.

US History:  We began talking about Freedom of Speech (notes here), and then we did a background reading on Schenck vs. United States for homework (See me to get a copy of the reading if you need it)

Friday (September 19th)

Psychology:  We discussed parenting styles.  Notes can be found here.  This weekend’s homework can be found here.

US History:  We discussed the Establishment Clause scenarios as a class by applying the Lemon Test to each of them.  We also had a homework assignment which you can get from me on Monday if you were absent on Friday.

Thursday (September 18th)

Psychology:  Today we took a quiz over the reading on Reactive Attachment Disorder, and we watched a documentary about a girl with the disinhibited type of the disorder.

US History:  Today we started talking about the the freedom of/from religion contained in the First Amendment.  Here are the notes from today (borrow a classmates’ to complete them) & here is the homework for tonight.

Wednesday (Septmember 17th)

Sorry I will not be at school today.  I fell pretty ill last night.  In US History, you will be watching “.” This will serve as an introduction into our exploration into freedom of and freedom from religion.  In Psychology, you will be watching an episode of Brain Games that doesn’t directly connect to human development, but is a fun watch nonetheless.  Enjoy!  And please assist the sub if technical help is needed.
